Soyou Y Remake of Freestyle Hit Song for CyWorld BGM 2021 Project

Soyou Y remake is just released! The hit song from 2000’s we’re remade into a new music again. Again? Yes! Because this version is actually the third official remake of Y (Please Tell Me Why).

Soyou Y Remake is a part of CyWorld BGM 2021 project. CyWorld is South Korea native social networking service that were popular in the late 2000’s. While user were using CyWorld, there would be a set of music accompanying them. Those track is known as CyWorld songs, inclluding the one that Soyou remake, Y (Please Tell me Why)

Soyou Y (Please Tell Me Why) Remake 2021 version

Different than original version by Freestyle. This version of Y (Please Tell me Why) use piano and electric guitar as the base. The song were also have element of Jazz, R&B, and Hiphop inside. Soyou voice compliment the song that give totally different vibe than the original or any other remake.

Big Naughty & Kwon Jin Ah Remake of Y (Please Tell Me Why) at JTBC Two Yoo Sugarman.

Produced by AVIN, the song take R&B vibe to a new level. Using strong bass line & synth Melody, this remake of Y feel the most R&B-esque alongside other remake of the song. Big Naughty also add his own interpretation of the song by adding his own rap verse.

Kei of Lovelyz & Myundo remake of Y (Please Tell Me Why)

Another remake at the modern Era were by Kei of Lovelyz & Myundo. Produced by Black Eyed Pilseung, the song take the same theme but took it into 2010’s world full of social media, especially with Myundo lyrics. Bumzu also featured in this version of Y (Please Tell Me Why)

Original version by Freestyle (2004)

Freestyle is a hiphop duo consisting of Mino and Zio. Both of them is part of ‘Mainstream’ hip hop wave that blooms in South korea in the early 2000’s. Despite using what were called Mainstream hiphop, the duo only start to catch public attention after release the song Y (Please Tell Me Why), 5 years after their debut in 1999. The hip hop ballad track sweep the charts and become instant classic. The popularity even goes overseas, become one of the most recognizable song from South Korea online game – Audition Ayodance. Other country even make a remake version of the song.
