GRAY Profile. His Early Life
Gray Profile, his Lee Seonghwa (Gray’s real name) was born on December 8, 1986 in Seoul, South Korea. As if he already knew his fate as a prodigy, Gray has had an interest in the music industry since he was 4. His parents also helped him to collect some music cassettes they bought from the rest area in his boyhood. Growing up well as Lee Seonghwa, Gray continued his study at Hongik University in Seoul and majored in computer engineering (the same major taken by his AOMG labelmate, Loco and Woo).
While Gray was a part of a club at Hongik University, a song he produced won the first place at “MBC College Musician Festival 2011”. Thenceforth Gray became popular even among the parents and he ended up agreeing to teach some lessons. Loco also took a lesson for a month with Gray before joining Show Me The Money Season 1 and surprisingly he came out as the winner of the show.
Insistent to pursuing his music career, Gray turned his rooftop house into his own studio named “GRAYGROUND” from the combination of Gray and playground. A lot of famous rappers and singers have come to Gray rooftop house, such as Zion.T, Simon Dominic, Beenzino, Crush, Dok2 and so on. Back then when he still worked at GRAYGROUND, Gray even got 6 labels in a week offering him to sign a contract with them. And finally in 2012 Gray signed a contract with AOMG.

In 2018, Mnet proclaimed Gray to be Show Me The Money Season 7 producer paired with BeWhy. But a few days after, Mnet cancelled the line up, stating that Gray and BeWhy can not join the show because of their unmatched schedule.
Shockingly, Mnet announced Gray to be joining SMTM10 and became a producer with MINO of WINNER as his teammate.
